24 Heures Moto 2014 - Le Mans hosts the final!

The 37th 24 Heures Moto (20-21 September) will be the final round of the 2014 FIM World Endurance Championship. This will add some extra spice to the blue riband event on the calendar, in which the no-holds-barred battle for victory will be boosted by the tension generated by the end-of-season suspense.

For several weeks the FIM Road Racing Commission has been working on finding a replacement for the recently cancelled Doha 8 Hours with a round in Europe. “We wanted to have a decision before the Suzuka 8 Hours,” says Paul Duparc, Road Racing Commission coordinator. “We had high hopes based on a possible round at Estoril and we were very close to offering you the final of the FIM World Endurance Championship in Portugal. To date, unfortunately, this event is still not fully financed. The organizers, the FMP and the FIM therefore prefer not to include this event on the 2014 calendar. However, looking for sponsors for this race allows us to be optimistic about the registration of an Endurance round at Estoril next season.”

Thus, the 24 Heures Moto in September will be the final of the 2014 FIM World Endurance Championship.

This weekend, the second the four rounds on the calendar, the Suzuka 8 Hours, is taking place in Japan.
